thoroughly enjoyed developing the rings and birds eye on this pipe.
Sometimes the briar wants to cooperate with you and this was one of
those times. The pipe has a contrast stain, one that I like since it
gives the briar the appearance of a fine patina. This billiard will
immediately become an old friend.

One of those pieces of briar that doesn't come along very often and a
pleasure to work with in creating a blast that has real personality.
The growth rings undulate around the bowl, with the apex at the bottom
of the heel and this continues into the shank. This pipe was a dream.
For some reason I couldn't get the white balance correct and the photos
show the pipe on the brownish side. The pipe is actually a deep
reddish/maroon. This is complimented with a vintage bakelite stem,
which is a creamy white, with swirls. The bakelite is spectacular,
imho.

offers generous walls and would be considered a group four in size.

still fairly light, considering the size. I have to admit, this was a
very satisfying pipe all around. Great piece of briar and the rings
just look extremely pleasing. This pipe had sold, but was too small
for the gentleman that commissioned the billiard and is now being
offered for sale. I had been wanting to make a magnum and I now have
the chance! I'm very excited!
